Waves of Stone Pottery by Morgan Mullins is a small batch ceramics studio in Park City, Utah where I live and work.

My work references my appreciation for the natural world –  I focus on evoking the bright joy and beauty we find in nature. I feel that work filled with nature belongs in the home, bringing the outside in.  The functional aspect of my work is also important to me.  I focus on the balance and movement of my pieces in action.

I heard the phrase “waves of stone” in a beautiful documentary about mountains.  I felt it embodied my work in so many different ways. The motion of waves resonates with my focus on balance, movement, and functionality.  Waves also represent my appreciation for the natural world. Meanwhile, stone references the material aspect of my work – stoneware.

I think of my pieces as waves of stone – set in motion by the people who use and enjoy them.

All pieces are one-of-a-kind wheel thrown stoneware or porcelain.  As all pieces are handmade and high fired, there will always be a slight variation in color and shape. If you would like to see more detailed images of a specific piece or if you have any other inquiries, please let me know at wavesofstonepottery@gmail.com.
